Valentines Day can be a real bummer for so many, but I’ve found that one way to beat the blues is to focus on someone else entirely–in a positive way. Hate something that happened at work? Go buy someone you love some flowers or something small but thoughtful or, just give them a hug and tell that they’re loved. Feel alone and just plain blah? Do some unexpected favor for someone you care about.
You will, I can guarantee, focus less on your own problems and unease, and decrease your stress, while releasing oxytocin (the bonding, feel-good hormone). As a result, you will make both of your days that much brighter. Whatever you do, the point is to break the cycle of downward spiral–the negative feedback loop. It really does work!
